Hi there,
We've just started a new sewalong  over on Burdastyle.

We'll be working on it for the next 3 weeks.  I plan on making a few alterations to accommodate my pregnant belly Smiley  You can read about it here and here.

You can download the pattern for free here.

Come and join us! Smiley
We can post our progress and finished dresses here as well as on Burdastyle.

I'm partway through making my Shari dress.  This is the fabric i chose to use, a paisley from my stash and a scrap of brown cotton to make my own piping:

You can find the piping how-to here.

I made a few alterations to the pattern as you can see in the picture below:

Quite simple alterations but effective for what i need.

And here is my dress so far:

This week i'll add in the zipper and sleeves then hem it to the right length.
You can read more about it here and see my how-to so far here.
There's another week left of the sewalong then we'll be starting something new.

So i added the sleeves and zipper to my Shari dress.  It was my first time sewing in an invisible zipper and i must say i was very proud with the results Smiley

Only once i had it sewn in there seemed to be a slight problem, the fabric at the back of the dress above my hips was bunching up Sad

It turns out that i have a slopeback problem (ie a curvature of the spine) which is more prominent since i'm carrying a baby on the front.  To fix this (with a little help) i took out some fabric across the back just slightly above the waist.  I also took out the side seams slightly.

You can read more about my alterations here.
I'm pleased with my results and i like that the dress will also be wearable once baby is here, i may have to alter the hemline though since i've made it a little longer at the front to allow for my bump lifting it.

You can see other Shari dresses made during the sewalong on the BurdaStyle website and read more about them here in the forum.

The next BurdaStyle sewalong is theLydia top.

This top is so versatile and could be modified in many ways.
