Well. Technically it's not quite friday where I am, but it is in most other places!

I finally finished a handspun project - and I had to spin extra yarn to finish it!  The ball of yarn on the keyboard in the photo collage is all I have left after binding off!

It's a wing of the moth shawl - spun from merino & angora with some sparkle - unfortunately no matter what I do, I can't get the sparkle to appear in the photos

I'm now contemplating spinning for another lace project....

Can't wait to see everyones creations (unless you guys are all quiet and resting up for Rhinebeck.  *sigh* I wish I could Rhinebeck!)

That shawl looks wonderful! That must have been a lot of work (spinning and knitting)!

What I've finished this week:

children and snow: it's 50/50 merino/silk, wonderful soft, but a bit hard to draft for a beginner like me, the fibres are soooooo long
it's plyed with metallized accompanying yarn for knitting
160m/94g

and:

toxic delilah: merino wool handdyed with kool aid
212m/95g so far but there's still something on my wheel

oh, the 50-50 looks gorgeous - and if you're spinning that evenly there's no way you're still a "beginner" Cheesy

I still love that shawl!  That yarn was perfect for that pattern Cheesy  I wish I lived close enough to go to Rhinebeck  Cry

I have been spinning and dying like crazy recently.  All the yarns are sock weight.

Harvest Surprise (this one already sold)

Dusty Rose

Technologic (this one is my favorite)

And then some of what I dyed

Anubis

And Opal (dyed for a dying challenge)

Well, technically I worked on this last week too but it is off the wheel now so I thought I post the finished product. About 150 yds of 100% Colonial Wool.

As usual, we are off to a great start on yarn porn for this week. Bixby, you are a busy spinner! Awsome stuff!!

Hope you all have a wonderful Fiber Friday!!

Only one skein this week, but since my Rhinebeck trip fell through, I'll be able to do some spinning/dyeing this weekend.  This skein is called Aunt Dorie, because it kind of reminds me of my Aunt Dorie.  Smiley

The lighter ply is tussah silk and the darker ply is wool, both dyed in the same dyebath.  The yarn is 227.5 yards and 5.75 ounces.

And I love Children and Snow!  It's simple, yet classy.  Smiley

Oh, Lufah, I love your Aunt Dorie!   Grin

I just have a couple o' postings for today... I recently FINALLY got into the spinning class that my LYS gives, after being on the waiting list since freakin' March!  So that means I've been learning how to process fleece, and haven't been at the wheel quite as much.

Spellbound
This was the first time I've used my own rolags!  I finally have access to handcards, so I carded up sweet little dumplings of rolags and then spun them one after another.  110 yards, 2.5 oz.  Merino, superwash, bamboo, tussah silk, recycled sari silk, angora bunny fluff, and angelina sparkle.

Topsail
Just a simple two-ply merino yarn.  126 yards/3.5 oz, bulky.

Yay.  Thinking about yarn makes me giddy!
Bring on more Fiber Friday postings!   Cheesy

I finally had some time to do a tiny bit of spinning.  I had a lumpy, bumpy single that I spun from a lumpy, bumpy batt.  I thought that since I didn't really like the fibre, it would be good for learning purposes.
So ta da, here is my first navajo plied yarn:

(my camera is terrible...)
I'm sure it would be SO much easier if the yarn were smooth....

Everyone's yarn looks great!  I wish I had more time for spinning Sad

Here is an armwarmer from a pair I knit from a scrap yarn that I spun a few weeks ago:

I have no spun yarn this wheek, only dyed. I am doing all by myself, carding, dyeing, spinning, knitting - "closed-cycle production"  Grin. I just transformed my past-Fiber-Friday yarn into neckwarmer.

My favorite for this week is the lumpy bumpy yarn.
