I just saw this and my jaw dropped. Check it out:  http://www.outblush.com/women/fashion/accessories/nolita-hat/

A HUNDRED BUCKS?!  With that bulky yarn, this thing would knit up in like 15 minutes!  What a rip!

And then there's this, for $187!

PS) I came across that while looking for a knit brim hat pattern (free) for my friend in San Fran who wants me to make her this:
Head-on photo:

ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND A PATTERN FOR THAT???

the first one would be super easy to do o.O

however the one your friend has on looks almost like it's crochet from the zigzag pattern on the top,...

there's something like this...

or thisfor crochet, but there are several knitted ones floating around too...

Crocheted would be easier for me to do, but I've never done a zig zag (small chevron?) pattern like that.  I just PM-ed you b/c the links of your comment aren't working right. I fixed the first one by messing around with it, but I can't seem to get the Garn Studio one to work. Can you resend?

THANKS!

NEVER MIND, I found it on the Garn Studio site.
I love that crocheted brimmed hat!

Here's the link to the one she meant to send me: http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=93&d_id=22&lang=en.  It's super cute!

It could be worse, it could've been $168. Oh, wait...

Worse? I was kind of reeling from the top when I saw the god awful gold hang ties. Eww. Those designers go a little too crazy sometimes.

And for $168, we could have probably made it out of yarn from merino wool from sheeps who only feed on sweet clover and mead, are hand brushed and get a massage every day and can speak perfect French.  Grin
