Now I want to make my own zombie defense station, only mine would be focused on the hide in the house until the infestation is over strategy.  Which of course means a lighter, a rag, and a few bottles of liquor.  Add in a handgun with lots of extra ammo and you'd be set.  Well, as long as the rations held out.

Become really good friends with a farmer. You'll have lots of food, likely lots of guns, and room to build a bunker.

My hubby and I (geeks extraordinaire) live on his parents' farm. We've created a plan for when the zombies come. And, since we raise cattle, and chickens for one of the major companies, we're pretty set. Lots of land, and since we're in foothills, we have good sized hills to build into.

And a river and lots of wooded areas for a fireplace and cover.

Just remember kiddos - don't be like the city people - have supplies before you need them. Don't rush to Wal*Mart!

This is going to be a Christmas present for my boyfriend! I hope he will like it.
I could not make a shield so I used just glass, but I added a gas mask instead. I've also painted the wooden box white and red.

I really like how it looks with the inside painted white.  I'll have to consider that on mine.  You did a wonderful job painting.  Great job editing the sign too.

I'm actually really really impressed.  I found these things to be a big project to undertake, but you have really done a great job and didn't cut any corners.  How did you make the stencil for the glass?  I cut my front cereal box cardboard, but it took quite a while and I had to tape it down before spray painting it.  I'd love to hear of a better way to stencil things.

I love the gasmask too.  This is so cool!

As for the stencil - it was not very easy! I printed your stencil on plain paper, then I cut the letters out with scissors (yeah yeah every letter!), and I put sellotape on the places that I cut to make my way to the letter. It took a looooong time! But in the end I had the stencil I needed I fixed the stencil on the wrong side of the glass (so that the paint is inside of the box) using masktape. I didn't use spray paint, I just got some acrylic paint (good for glass) and pressed it through the stencil using a dishwasher sponge (messed a bit on G in EMERGENCY, but I think it just adds a personal touch )
It was a very time-consuming project, I had to make the box by myself too, and I used a handsaw for the first time in my life! For the glass I destroyed one IKEA frame It can be taken from the box without breaking it - the part of the wooden frame on the top is removable. So my boyfriend can play around with machine gun and gas mask and knife and then put it back inside and close the box with the glass.
I tried to find a shotgun, but I could not! So I just picked up the machine gun that looked most realistic I even dropped by a real weapon shop, but they refused to sell me mounts, of course! The gas mask was plain white, so I had to add some red on it - think it looks better this way on a white box! All in all I am very happy with the result! Can't wait to give it to my boyfriend! He is a fan of zombies and such so I hope he will like this thing
