Did you know Kool-Aid will dye nylon? Whooda thunk

I dyed some "faux cashmere" nylon fibers with kool-aid, thinking the heat would just melt it into oblivion. But instead it came out in these outrageously bright colors. The green packets turned a crazy chartreuse, and the tamarindo turned orange with green remnants in the water.

Tamarindo Kool-Aid??  Granted, it's been forever since I bought Kool-Aid and the fibers you got are gorgeous, but Tamarindo flavor sounds yummy.

Of course, I'm also wondering if I really want to drink something that colors nylon into such pretties!

Dying nylon rocks, I've done it twice before Acid dyes (food dyes are acid dyes) will attach extremely well to nylon and silk, as well as wool... prolly better on nylon than on wool.
I've done some beaver nylon dyeing.
Your fibers look awesome! I have to get some stuff to dye and crack open my kool-aid packs soon (never tried 'em yet!)

That sounds awesome!  I have been scouring the internet for info on dying with Kool-Aid but haven't tried it yet.  My only question is how color fast is the dye is on nylon?
