Which kind of short rows are you try to do? Is it wrap and twist? Do you have a heel flap?

Here's a few tutorials with photos that might help:

The main problem is probably being able to visualize what you are supposed to be doing. You'll be knitting short rows, each row will most llikely be 2 stithes (one at each edge) shorter than the row before it. It will eventually look something like a triangle with the tip cut off. Then you will start to knit rows that are 2 stitches longer each time, and that is because each one will incorporate one stitch each edge of the row before, or under, the one you just did. It will start to make a little pouch shape.

Are you having trouble with the actual KNITTING or with the imagining-knitting-in-my-head-what's-happening-with-this?

If it's the actual knitting, check the sites that the other people left, or post a little more detail Wink about what's going on.

If it's the imagining part - STOP DOING THAT  Smiley Just do what it says and don't think it out, don't try to imagine what's going to happen, just follow the instructions on blind faith. When you're done with the heel, THEN you can figure out what the pattern said/meant compared to what you did.

Honest, knitting sock heels isn't hard. It just doesn't make sense when you read the instructions. And that makes it seem a lot harder than it really is.

Don't think about it! Just follow the directions exactly.

It's crazy... but it works - magic!
