I love this hat!! Its in the new IK holiday issue. It's a pattern by Jared Flood, who is one of my favorite knitters.
Anyone planning on knitting this up?

The SECOND I get the mag!!  I LOVE him - I think he should put out a book.  Everything he does is classic and so wearable!  What yarn are you going to use?

I just cast on a few minutes ago and I'm using Merino 5 by crystal palace yarns. It has different shades of green. I hope it's not too busy for the pattern. A solid would probably be better but I really liked this yarn and thought it might be fun. I'll get a picture up as soon as I get to the pattern section.

I think I'll try to stop on the way home tonight and find a good yarn.  I am going to check out the crystal palace yarn for other projects though, I love yarn with different shades of the same color!

I got the magazine and some yarn yesterday, I cast on and got about 1/2 way through the chart for the first time...  I think this hat is going to be WAY too big!  And, maybe it's just me, but it's SO slow!  I'll keep at it a little longer and then decided.  I just don't want to spend forever on it and finish only to realize it's too big.  It's supposed to be for a friend whose birthday is on Friday!   Undecided

I am 1/2 way through the 3rd chart and I actually think it's going to fit!  It's very "cushy" and I think that it will be very warm!

Is it really for a 16" head circumference like it says in the magazine?  That seems very small for an adult.  Does it stretch a lot?
Thanks,
Ellen

It's not off the needles yet, so I can't say for sure.  Initially it seemed like it was going to be HUGE!  Now it looks like it might fit though.  We'll see in another day or 2...  Wink

It's going pretty slow for me. I love the hat though so hopefully I get faster with the pattern. Anyone know away to do it without the cable needle ? That's what's slowing me down.
