I realize this doesn't really help, but I have a really old published pattern for Cabbage patch dolls that I bought at the Salvation Army Store.  But I say check ebay, or other auction sites as someone might be selling it.  Also I know you used to be able to buy kits to make them (my mom did this when we were little, they even came with plastic heads).  So ya, I don't know about any free patterns, but look aroudn for these published ones.  Oh also try searching for Xavier Roberts instead of just cabbage patch as it might bring up the results you are looking for (as I don't think the pattern refers to them as cabbage patch kids, i think it refers to htem as little people".
Good luck, I'd love to see pics if yo uend up making it.

Thanks!! I've looked on eBay previously but only found oatterns for the clothes. I'll keep looking anyway.

I also found a website (www.thesewingspot.com) which provides a pattern but it no longer works Sad

I'll let you know how I get on

Keep checking on ebay, one will show up and you can always make the doll later if you find it after her birthday.

So I just went and looked at my pattern.  The dolls are called "Little People Pals" (Xaivier Roberts' original name for his creations).  Searchign for this might yield better results.  I just tried google searching and the pattern is available (amazon and ebay).
