I was looking for ideas on how to design something for my two cats and printed a few "cat condos" from online. My dad saw one of them had the dimensions and started measuring it out to see if it would be big enough for my two cats. We had to customize it because my boy is large (not far, just big) and ended up changing the size of the houses and platforms but it turned out great!

What do you think? TJ seems to be pleased!

1 sheet of plywood = $20
Old landscaping posts  =  free
900 feet (seriously) of sisal rope = $50
5 yards of carpet = free scraps under 6 yards!  (insides, tops and sides are all covered)

TOTAL: $70   (compared to the one online for $189)

I imagine if I could've bought the sisal online, it would've been cheaper but we got on a roll and did all but the carpet in one day. It wasn't that hard either. The only bad thing is that I had major hand-cramps from the staple gun.

[FYI, the platforms were connected last, after they were carpeted, so we can remove them to move it out of the room. Otherwise, its short and skinny enough to fit perfectly through the door.]

I hope you like it!  Grin

This is fabulous. What lucky kitties. Yours certainly turned out cheaper and better built than the ones you purchase.

Darn right kitties should be spoiled!!!!!
