Let's face it. I'm a Shakespeare nerd.  Literature and history, all rolled into one?!  YES.
Comedies, Tragedies, Histories... The craft possiblilities are endless!

and I know I can't possibly be the only one who's still got Mercutio's lines memorized from sixth grade.  Grin

Anyone else in?

Ah, the Bard. I am taking two 300 level classes of Shakespeare this semester. Much Ado about Nothing is definitely my favorite, but Hamlet holds a special place in my heart. I would love to take part, but only if the ship out date is after Thanksgiving so that I have time to work on it, in addition to my school work! Grin

oh, this would be something I would be interested in. I have season tickets to the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre this year and I love it.

my favourite would be mindsummer's night dream.

but the drama part i was most proud of, was when i was asked in the 150+ drama class (high school had five classes of thirty each semester to accomodate everyone that wanted in, and there were huge waiting lists) to do the Lady's role from The Scottish Play. i got to do my own inflection, my own costume, my own blocking. *shiver* one of the best things i've ever done.

i like the idea a lot, and i've even dreamt up appropriate crafting ideas while walking through the theatre gift shop in stratford (they have a decent-sized annual run with a few shakespeare works).

i'm already gearing up for holidays, however, and want to focus on that...i'd be more inclined in january. so far away! i know.

I'm interested too! I'm totally a "Much Ado" and "Midsummer Night's Dream" girl myself.  Grin Whether or not I join totally depends on the time frame though since I'm moving at the beginning of November and traveling overseas for the last part of it. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread though!

I may be interested...but what would I craft?

dude, this would be soo much fun. is anyone interested still, now that holiday crafting is either done or will be done frantically in the next 48 hours?

i'm a big fan of hamlet myself. all hamlets. Kenneth Branagh Hamlet, Mel Gibson Hamlet, Hamlet 2000. Someday I hope to produce a lesbian hamlet...ah the feminist english major inside me squeals with glee.

I might still be interested!

And I was once in an all-female version of Twelfth Night! And that's especially interesting, because there's ALREADY women dressed as men in the play itself!

I really want to do this swap, and I would be willing to organize. Can we shoot for the 3 week in January to start things rolling, I am in a production right now and we open in a couple of weeks.

I do not want to step on anyone's toes if they want to organize.

Oh! I forgot to mention, I just bought an awesome bottle of wine just for the label! It's called Writer's Block and it has a picture of Will on the label...I bought it specifically to craft something with the label for my friend (another Eng degree) for her bday...found out she doesn't like wine so I will drink it myself first!

I would be interested but I'm doing my first swap right now, which should be done before the end of the month.

A start in the beginning of February maybe with a sendout a couple of weeks after that would be great for me.

I'm new here...been lurking as a guest on these boards for about 3 weeks now and you guys amaze me! So darn crafty!

I'm a bit of a Shakespeare freak myself, and I have to admit, these swaps intrigue me. I'd love to do one but I'm not quite sure I understand the concept fully. I think I need to go read the FAQ Wink

Absolutely. I will start sign ups the week of the 11th. How about crafting a large item, 1 small item and a small item (or a couple).

Should we stick to the literature, or should we pull from movies like Shakespeare in Love? That might be fun too.

The 11th is perfect for me too!

Also I agree that we should include the movies too. Shakespeare in Love is one of my absolute faves and seeing Much Ado in 10th grade is what started my Shakespeare obsession in the first place. My teacher saw how much I loved the movie and gave me a collection of his works to read and it was over.  Grin

I WANT IN.

No, seriously, I was just wandering around thinking about Macbeth and how if there was a Macbeth swap it would be the awesomest of awesome things.  I'm a bit Macbeth obsessed.  Before that it was Twelfth Night.   Cheesy

But, um, if it's still up for discussion, to be really on board, I'd need a bit more time between sign ups and send outs; I'm in the middle of knitting a pair of socks for a birthday that will already be late without my being distracted by new projects.  Undecided
