I have a friend who creates amazing rock sculptures.  They're a HUGE hit in our office and everybody wants one at their desk.  The rocks range in size, but they usually fit in the palm of your hand and the figures on them are no more than an inch tall.

I got a crazy idea a while ago to take pictures of these miniatures and make them life sized.  I love them but would love to know what other people think before I make a whole gallery of them.   Grin

So, opinions please....

Those are great!  I love how your photos makes them seem so large by playing with our expectations, etc.  It's like a size version of Victor Victoria... a giant pretending to be a Lilliputian pretending to be a giant.  Or something.  Anyway, it also reminds me of Audrey Heller's work, which you may find interesting.  She uses the little people, too, but in a different context with a different result. http://www.audreyheller.com/ed

Oh wow - thanks for the Audrey Heller link.  I love that!  Similar but different for sure.

I guess one of the things about these rocks sculptures is that the scenarios are so odd that when you put it in the context of a photo, I wonder if people will "get them"!  Then again, nobody ever said people have to "get" art right?!   Wink

I think that's what I like about both yours and AH's work... I look, thinking I know what I'm going to see, then for a quick second I think "what the...?" and then I think "Oooooh!  Cool."

This is great!  I had no idea there were so many other photographers out there taking pics of tiny miniatures.   Grin
