Okay, I searched the wedding section and it was oriented toward having a wedding. I perused the site and didn't quite find what I needed. I'm looking for a very cheap wedding gift idea for a suddenly very religious couple. (One of whom I've never met and the other has a grown a foreign persona.) They have their housewares and basically everything else they could need/want.

I wanted to make a plate with their invite on it, but I couldn't find single clear glass plates yet and I'm not sure about the glue for doing so. I'm sure just about anything I make for my budget of around $10 will go over better than the store bought crap I could buy that they prolly don't need or want anyway. Can you tell I'm excited? LOL (I'm not happy that I'm obligated to go)Thanks for any ideas.

why dont you decorate a frame and frame the invite in that or you could find a cheap little box and decoupage the invite on that.

You can get single clear glass plates at Linens and Things (or is it Bed Bath & Beyond?). Those places always have coupons, too.
I suggest you use wallpaper paste to adhere the invite to the plate.
Maybe you can make some color copies of the invite for practice or in case things don't turn out as you want...

Maybe you can just embroider a little scrap of fabric with their names and wedding date and then adhere/sew it onto a ready made pillow?

Thank you so much!! I'm working on framing the invite. I have some scrapbooking remnants to embelish with. The invite itself is kinda plain, simple gold script (no embossing, etc), so I'll try to liven it up.

The pillow is a great idea. I'll file that in my memory bank.

I love the idea of doing something with the clear glass plates. Even a copy of a newborn's footprints, or a special photo could work for so many occasssions. I don't want to venture out to BBB anytime soon, so that'll go into the someday file.

I was a lil grouchy about the whole thing. I really feel imposed upon by what I'm beginning to feel was/is a one sided friendship. This obligation was a burden rather than a joy. Now I have a fun, easy project. Thanks again!
