Swap name: My Country Doesn't Have That - Round 9
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: dizzylizzy
Sign-up date range: October 15- November 15
Date to send item by: 2 weeks from claim

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): no
I must note, that, if that swap reaches 25 participants, I will have to put all new approvals on hold until I can get a co-organizer.
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? Obviously, no, this swap requires being able to send internationally
All ages allowed? Or 18+? All ages but be aware of international shipping costs and get a parents permission, please.

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap:
This round of MCDHT will be ongoing- this way, non-US swappers can choose to swap with other non-US swappers, and there is also the opportunity to swap more than once! The point is to send cool and fun items from different countries around the globe so we can all experience other cultures   Grin

You will be required to post a list of a minimum of 6 countries/regions (a region could include eg. Scandanavia, Australasia, or even Europe) you would like to receive from, along with some ideas of items you would be interested in getting (although there are no guarantees, this is just to give your partner an idea of what you would like).  You are required to put "Any other than my own" as a country choice - the key to this swap is flexibility.

Like the Ongoing Wish Swaps, this swap will be a chain, with each participant claiming the last person to post their country list. So, person A will post a list, person B will claim A, person C will claim B and so on.

IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU REPLY WITH YOUR STATUS WHEN YOU CLAIM SOMEONE!  This means you need to post who you are claiming and for what, how many claims you have made, including how many in transit and how many received, and your location/preferences/aversions.

*Non-US participants: if you are claimed by a US participant first time round, you will be able to opt out of receiving from a second US participant.  Remember, you can only opt out of receiving from the US if you have previously received from a US partner in this swap.  If you have not been claimed 48 hours after posting your info for the second time, you will have to lift the restriction in order to keep the swap moving.
*US Participants may consider listing what is different or specific about your area of the US so non-USers can know what you might have in addition to the much coveted kool-aid, shrinky dinks, and sharpies!

Due to the requirement for international shipping in this swap, there are limits on how many claims you can have outstanding.
Swap Newbies can have 1 claim outstanding
Established swapperscan have 2 claims outstanding
FOCs can have 3 claims outstanding

You have two weeks from the date you claim to send your package.

Swap packages NOT subject to size/weight restrictions - send as much as you can afford!  Hopefully, this will allow most people to send out twice without breaking the bank. Wink

You must get a receipt when you send - this is very important with this type of international swap. Also, YOU MUST PM THE ORGANIZER WHEN YOU SEND AND RECEIVE. This is crucial to keep the swap running smoothly!

QUESTIONNAIRE TO SEND TO ORGANIZER

Here's an example from round 8 that shows how the lists and claims work.

I claim cheshyre! Went to the fabric market, but spend less than expected so I can swap again!

I, Javede, am approved and live in Germany and this is my second claim, none send.

This is my list of countries in no paricluar order though there are numbers  Wink
1. Asia: anything cute, fabric, sweets, magazines or craft books, stationary
2.France: sewing supplies, children books, magazines(I learned french in school and would like to see
how much I still remember)
3. USA: knitting/crochet/sewing magazines, yarn(Knitpicks would be nice), these
cookies
(I so LOVE them!), cute/printed cotton fabric
4.UK: craft/cross stitch magazines, yarn, thanks sophieangele!
5. Japan: cute stationary, Hello Kitty related items
6. any other than my own, really

I claim Javede for Canadian goods. I am from northern Canada and this is my third claim. (one sent ..)

i would like to receive from anywhere!

Asia: blythe items and knit or craft books (felt mascots?!)
Germany: Rebecca knitting magazines
USA: we have pretty similar things in canada ... but i live in a remote area so there is a good chance its new to me! (also .....haven't been able to find twinkle soft chunky yarn - would love some! but that is extravagant so never mind!)

really, i'm not picky check out my wists to get a sense of things i lust after
(www.wists.com/knit_north )
thanks in advance!!   Cheesy

So, javede chose to send something from the last person's wishlist, and the knit_north came right after javede and chose to send javede something, then knit_north posted her own wishlist for the next person to choose from.

I edited out some things from their lists, but I hope this helps everyone get a general idea.

Like the Ongoing Wish Swaps, this swap will be a chain, with each participant claiming the last person to post their country list. So, person A will post a list, person B will claim A, person C will claim B and so on.

Does that mean person B will claim from A or send A stuff? And after the first swap is done, do I have to sign-up again to get another swap partner or just IM the mod?

Sorry, this is gonna be my first swap.

Ongoing means B chooses to claim something from A's list then posts their list, someone then chooses from B's list, etc. You only have to sign up once. If you're new it looks as though you can have one outstanding claim, that means you can claim again once the pkg. you've sent out has been received. Hopefully that helps.

I'll sign up for this once I get my ongoing swaps under five!

I guess I'll get this started.

I'm Liz, in the US (I live really close to Washington DC, so I could probably find some cool stuff also.  Wink )

I don't really have any specific countries in mind, I'd be happy to receive from anywhere!  Grin

My Wishlist:
*Postcards- Especially featuring architecture. I find American stuff so bleh. I would love anything with European castles and churches, or Asian shrines, temples or gardens. Or even anything depicting the local lifestyle, like fishing or farming or anything.
*Old maps- I like to see how different civilizations evolved.
*Dolls in your country's traditional clothing.
*Vintage buttons or beads
*Yarn (I'm only really familiar with acrylic, but I'm eager to try something else like bamboo, silk, or alpaca...)
*Fabric with prints usually attributed to your culture
*Coffee or tea native to your area.

Asian specifics:
origami or washi paper
bento boxes and accessories
batik fabric
hand-fans

Hello I'm Lilylola and I claim Dizzylizzy for tea, costume dolls, vintage buttons  and old maps from England.

I'm happy to receive from anywhere. I teach dancing and anything relating to national dances from your country (music, pictures of costumes for example) would be brilliant.

I love crochet, needle felting and making jewellery so supplies for any of those would be excellent.

SWEETS. I have three daughters, sweets are always very welcome in a parcel. In particular Reeses Peanut Butter Cups which are tricky to find here not to mention ruinously expensive and the lollipop kind of Tootsie Rolls are great too
Actually any sweets would be fab.

Christmassy items, decorations, wrapping, cards - if they relate to your country that's good but otherwise the tackier the better.
I love the holiday season, I start planning it round about July (secretly in my head) and generally get thoroughly over excited only to come down with a crash when I have to go back to work on January 2nd. Doing pirouettes after eating your own weight in mince pies is not fun.
