Another Brand Spankin' New Pink Shrug!

Yeah I know, so many shrugs, it must get kinda annoying...

But I saw this beautiful Mohair/Poly knit fabric with hints of gold at JoAnn's when they were having their huge sale a month or two ago. I had to have it to make something or other. Since I figured it would be getting a bit more chilly lately I figured a sweater-like thing would do.

So I bought a Butterick Pattern, B4551, shown here http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B4551=x&TI='b4551'&page=1. I chose view C and I made a few adjustments as the pattern calls for a lining and I thought that it would look a bit tacky since the knit is very open. I used French seems and slip stitched the outside of the collar onto the sweater. The pattern is still a bit wide on the back, which is a big problem with most clothes I make since I am so petite, so I decided I am going to add a satin ribbon to the bottom hem and gather the back of the sweater to a bow in the center.

So enough yammering... Here are the pics. I will post more when I finish and am wearing it!



You might be able to see the little bits of gold in the fabric here. Very festive!



This was my first time really adjusting a pattern to my own needs, I was always too scared to make my own changes, but everyone at Craftster has inspired me to take the giant step. Hopefully I'll be on my way to soon making my own patterns...

I like it!  Can't wait to see the finished photos with the ribbon.  Good for you for taking the leap and chopping up the pattern to fit you. 

LOL - I bought that fabric too - it's so cozy and a great deal.  I was going to use it to make my sis a sassy clutch.

And for an update...

I went to my local JoAnn's and found out that it didn't have a very large selection of satin ribbons so I ventured on out into the fabric section. And bought and eighth of a yard of a dusty rose crepe back satin. I'm going to make my bow myself as well. I just need to find some time to do this.
