Ok thank you for all the advise you have given me! My partner finally received her knitting roll

I love the colors but I more than likely won't make me one like this because I don't knit yet! But I will make me a crochet one!
What do you think?

oh yeah note to other, wash fabric first. I washed after i made it and it got weird. Also I sewed on the back after the last 2 pockets thus eliminating the need for pencial/chalk marks. Not all my pencil marks came out Cry. I guess you learn on your first!

looks like you got the lines right, even w/o my tute! sux that it shrank though and got wonky after washing...my mom was my 4-H teacher growing up so she always made me wash fabric right away when i bought it, i guess i'm still in the habit b/c i still run downstairs when i get home and throw it in the wash. so how is everyone else's coming? i haven't heard anything on here except from bruisedpeach22 and annamhudson. of course, i'm pretty chatty, so i like to have a talkative thread Smiley

Hello!
I read this thread two weeks ago and got inspired.  Roll Eyes
Then our computer broke down. Terrifying, I had to live without internet!!!!!!
But on the other hand I actually did something instead of just hanging around craftster thinking about what I would like to do.
I made a "knitting needle and crochet hook roll".  Smiley
I posted it on the Purses, Bag and Wallet board since I didn't introduced my self here before I started. Have a look at it if you like.
I'm thinking about making another one now that I have some experience and know what not to do....If I do so I'll join here from the beginning. But I am happy to discuss anyway.

Hello!
How did you manage the edges. I used tape as you maybe can see. But I'm not really pleased with that.
Have you sewn right side to right side and turned or.....?

That is such a pretty roll. I like it a lot. I love the curved pocket!

These needle rolls all look so great!  Thanks so much for finding all of the tuts!  I was thinking last night about possible Christmas gifts and decided these would be perfect so when I got to work (my only access to the internet.. shhhh don't tell!)  I did a search and voila!! you had done all of the work for me and found all of the tuts already!   I can't wait to go home and go through my material stash and see what combos I can come up with!
Thanks again! I'll post mine when I get them done!  Smiley

alright, so here are my needle rolls FINALLY!! i stayed up many many late nights til 2 am working on these or forcing (yeah right) my parents to babysit my daughter so i could work on them during the day. they're slightly wrinkled yet b/c i haven't had time to iron them yet but i will tomorrow b/c i gotta wrap em already for xmas. making them wasn't technically difficult besides the fact i screwed up measurements, (thats what i get for making them when i'm tired) i think if i were to make them again though i'm going to do a lot simpler.

the first one is for my SIL.
the outside fabric

inside pockets-i messed up a bit on this one so i had to tack on some extra purple at the top. still turned out alright i guess...not as happy with the needle rolls as i thought i'd be. of course, i am my own worst critic. also for some reason the sides look wonky in the pic but they're not in real life.

the second one is for my MIL
outside fabric

inside pockets--screwed up this one too and had to add more chickens at the top but thankfully it turned out a little better than the other one.

now last but not least is the one for my mom
outside fabric

inside fabric

this is actually how i did the flap. all i did was sew a line across the whole roll about 2 in. down so that it made almost a crease and its easy to fold down.

here they are all rolled up
