Hi Craftsters,

I'm looking for your good ideas for a "____ in a box" gift for my friend. Let me explain, every year for my friends birthday we send each other some sort of themed gift ideas. But I can't seem to think of any this year. My friend will be 28 y/o, lives in la, loves music, movies, drinking and having fun. Does any one have any themed gift ideas?

Here are some examples of "_____ in a box" gifts from the past:

"SEX, DRUGS & ROCK 'N ROLL"
-I took three shoe boxes and painted "sex", "drugs", and "rock 'n roll" and filled them up with fun things that went with those themes.  (Like condoms, toys, etc in the "sex" box....)

"TIKI PARTY"
-I put together a whole little tiki bar set with tiki mugs and cute things from archiemcphee.com

"PIE IN A BOX"
-She loves pumpkin pie so I sent her a box with everything from the pie shell to the measuring spoons so she could make her own.

"FIESTA IN A BOX"
-You guessed it...margarita glasses, salt, etc.

"HOW TO BE A BAD GIRL"
-Filled with a flask, toy whip.

Any ways, any suggestions I would appreciate!

Thanks!

Indulgence in a box? you could be good quality chocolates in there, maybe a small thing of caviar, really nice bubble bath, one of those small bottles of alcohol you get on planes or in hotels.

Jack in a box? a white stripes CD, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest on DVD, A deck of cards.

the JACK IN THE BOX one is awesome!!   =)

What about a "nite on the town box": stuff for a pedicure, a handmade sparkly bracelet & a flower pin. A couple of nips of liquor so she can spike her soda & a cute lil handmade evening bag.

Ooh, great ideas. I really like the indulgence in a box. The other idea I had was "ROAD TRIP" in a box because she is going to be driving cross country. But I could only think of a few things to put in there (gift certificates to cracker barrel and road trip bingo). Any ideas?

yum i love road trips ...

for road trip in a box ... some of this stuff won't work if she's going alone ...

road maps, maps that highlight scenic byways, snacks, mix cd's/mix tapes for the road, postcard stamps (hint hint), a book like "on the road", a book on tape/cd, a travel guide to the us, film/disposable cameras, a travel journal, a little map that you make where she can mark where she's gone, baby wipes, puzzle/crossword books, mad libs, a set of trivial pursuit cards (no, you don't need the board at all to play!), gas card, oil change gift certificate, a packet of toilet seat covers, pick one of her favorite hobbies and make a guide to attractions that have to do with it (like specialty shops, museums, places of interest, famous people's homes), a tacky license plate frame, bumper stickers

you know cracker barrel rents books on tape and books on cd? it's pretty cool. you can return them at any location. the selection is so-so, but since there is a cracker barrel every two miles on the interstates across all of america, it works.

Depending on your budget, a road side assistance card, or a calling card.  For saftey,  you can get little emergence kits, w/ flares, quick fixit stuff, tire fixing stuff.
Emergency snack kit (jucie box, choc bar, chips, peanuts....)for inbetween gas stations, mix cd to listen to, funnkky sunglasses.

That's all I can think of right now.

LOL  don't forget to get  a medical supply store & get a "Jane" , it's a female bedpan type thing. LOL
Also wet wipes (antibacterial is good!) & the antibacterial hand cleaning stuff.

this whole "in a box" concept is great.  seriously.

well i don't think this would work for your 28 yr old friend, but for anyone else here who might be looking for ideas for college friends, what about "[insert university name] in a box"?

for example, a friend of mine goes to stephen f austin university, so i'm thinking about "sfa in a box."  it would probably have those cute mini bottles of liquor (basically any liquor store has them), maybe a little stuffed lumberjack (the mascot), coupons or gift certificates to the chicken place (i forget the real name of the place, but every student there pretty much lives on that restraunt), hangover-curing pills (do those really work?), and maybe some things to do with her major (accounting - calculator keychain, pocket protector [lol], etc).

I've only actually been hungover twice but V-8 juice & a couple tylenol  worked quite well.  =)
