I made these invites to send out for my halloween party. I copied the idea from Martha Stewarts website. I really like how they came out.

They look great.  I saw those too, and thought I could make those.  How did you make the fingers or did you buy them somewhere, it looks very realistic.  How many did you make? and did you mail them or pass them out, I would be really creepy getting one of those in the mail. Shocked

I made the finger with plaster. I made a mold of my finger with this clay stuff (its a blue putty and a white putty that you mix together and then wrap around your mold and in like 15 minutes or less it hardens and you have your mold.) Then I poured plaster in the mold and let them harden up. Once i had the fingers i just painted them a deadly greay/green color.

Oh I am mailing them out tomorrow. I cant wait for people to get them Grin

Those are too creepy! I'm living in a new town and don't know anybody. Too bad, because it would be awesome to have a party and send those out!

I've always admired those in MSL and love that someone actually did it and did it very well!  Do you mind sharing how many you made and how long it took?

I made 10 of them. The plaster for the fingers set pretty fast so I only had to leave it in the molds for like 15 minutes each. After I took them out of the mold I let them sit over night before I painted them. I would say it took in total about 5-6 hours including molding the fingers, painting the boxes with 2 coats of black inside and out, printing up the card for the inside of the box and painting the fingers with 2 coats of gray.

Wow!  Thanks for sharing your information.  My suspicions about the time were correct.  Halloween parties I've had and attended tend to go for maximum attendence and I can tell it would take days to do it, not to mention the postage costs!  Sigh.  Maybe for my funeral.

I LOVE it!!  I could just imagine getting one in the mail!  Sometimes, though, Martha scares me with her projects that look easy, but they fool me.  I am reminded of the sugar cube Nutcracker Castle YEARS ago.....  **sigh**

I know what you mean. Martha has fooled me before too with her so called easy projects. These invites were easy once I figured out how to make the finger mold. The stuff I used to make the mold was super easy.
