Long story short, I purchased the yarn and cast on for this scarf over 5 years and 2100 miles ago. I started over this past weekend and finally finished:

It's 3 balls of Cleckheaton Gusto 10, knit in plain ol' seed stitch on US17 needles. I put a "button hole" in the middle, so it fastens back on itself. No fuss.

The long version of the story is here, if you're interested.

Oh how I love seed stitch but hate to knit it!  Gorgeous gorgeous scarf.  Worth the effort I believe!
