This was actually made as a present for Alex Turner, lead singer of Arctic Monkeys (I don't know how well known they are in the US, but UK members will know who I'm on about  Grin)

The person I made it for is a friend of the band and ordered Arctic Monkey as an antidote to the 'normal' monkeys that fans keep sending to Alex.

He's about 8" high and the icicle is 6" long. The icicle is removable - I started a thread on here a while ago about how to make it, I must go update that one in a bit  Grin It's surprising just how stress-relieving it can be, stabbing a monkey in the eye   Cheesy

I'm really pleased with how he turned out - I'd love to know what people think of him  Grin

I love this, but what does the monkey look like when the icicle is removed? Is it just the bloody hole (sorry for being gross!) or is there a regular eye under there that just has that red ring thing around it?

Super cute and well done! If I were a deranged child, this would be my favorite cuddle animal. Smiley

P.S. We have heard of Arctic Monkeys in the U.S. I saw them at Austin City Limits Music Festival and they were great! They might not be as big here though.

It's not gross, it's the sort of thing I would ask  Grin  And yup, there is a 'bloody' hole - I'll see if I can find a pic.

hahah what a clever idea.  I love when you can do things with plushies like move things, or when they have zippers, etc.

Rubbish pic I'm afraid, but it kind of shows how it's done - I made a casing in red felt that was the same shape as the icicle (just slightly bigger), then I inserted it into the monkey's face through a circular hole. I then wedged the polyfill around to keep it in position (there's a tiny stitch through the back as well, to make sure).

So when you pull the icicle out, you're left with a red, 'bloody' hole that goes right into Monkey's head  Grin

Sorry if I sounded really patronising asking whether people had heard of the band, I didn't mean it to, honest   Wink  I just thought I'd better explain in case people wondered what on earth I was waffling on about  Roll Eyes Wink
