I was watching The Wizard of Oz and I needed something to keep busy. I decided to crochet some slippers and as if by the will of the Gods, I had sparkly red yarn. It was destiny. 2 hours later, I had slippers that rock.

Yarn used was Bernat's Ping Pong.

I added the purple just to keep things interesting... that and red and purple look fabulous together.

Now please be kind, I'm a knitter not a crocheter. The pattern was taught to me by my grandmother, I added the straps for to keep them on better.

Fantastic!  I'm wondering, though - are they itchy?  Sometimes those pretty novelty yarns can be less than friendly to bare skin...

Ive been wearing them since I made them and so far no itchiness. I normally hate novelty yarns but this shit rocks.

Cheesy I LOVE THE WIZARD OF OZ  Cheesy.

Not being either a knitter or crochet - er (!) I think these are great - although I prefer to go barefoot.  And 2 hours.  That would like take me forever.  So well done.  Grin

Reminds of the moment I just had with my boy.

Me: *taps heels concentrating hard*
Him: What are you doing?
Me: Maybe if I keep doing this and wishing as hard as I can you'll do the dishes.
Him: Alright, fine. I'll do the dishes.
Me: Yay!

If anyone's ever interested, it's a good time killer pattern taking me only 2 hours as a non-crocheter. Chain 2, sc in first ch some even number. This number depends on what size hook youve got and what sort of yarn youre using. Mine was sort of bulky, so I did 4 sc. You then go around, making 2 sc in each one. Then go around again 1 sc and then 2 sc in each one around. Keep doing this until it's able to fit over your the tips of you toes without too much tightness. You then sc in each one around until it covers around mid-foot level. Once it can cover as much of your foot as you like, and you've reached the end of the round chain one and turn. You are now working it flat. Work sc leaving some stitches unworked since youre making the sole and sides of the slipper. Make the sides as high as you like and such. Sc it until it's long enough to reach the back of your foot but stay snugly on. Seam up the back and find how you wanna keep them on your feet. I chose to tie it, sometimes I do maryjane straps, sometimes nothing at all for a more 'manly' slipper.
