I have three swappers who have informed me that they are ready to send, but are uneasy about doing so since they haven't heard much from their partners.

*Both one swapper and I have not heard anything from her partner in over two weeks.
*Another swapper has not heard from her partner since the 22nd, but the partner has notified me she will be sending late, although she didn't give a timeline.
*Another swapper's partner has notified us that all of her projects are "planned and nearly ready" although that sounds a bit vague to me as well.

Do I just tell those who are ready to send to go ahead, and in the case they do end up flaked upon, find them angels later? Or should I advise them to wait to send until I get more definite information from their partners?

(Oh, and I think I should mention the send deadline was last Wednesday, Oct 3.)

I have, in the past, has a swapper hold off on sending out her package since her partner was very MIA in the thread/lack of communication and we both had a sense of flakeability being very prevalent. Once she and I received the DC# the I told her she could send out on her end.

Thanks! That was my initial thought.

But I guess I'm still worried if the partner(s) in question end up never sending? What then? Oh, and what kind of time frame should I allow before I assume the worst?

I agree with having them wait to send.

Two weeks after deadline occurs, if you haven't heard from the missing, I'd go ahead and consider them flakes. Then, either have the waiting swappers swap with each other, or ask in your thread for "replacement partners" (not technically angels because they will get a package in return). You can also give the flaked upon people the option of keeping what they've made, and withdrawing from the swap. A swap mod can remove their feedback, just open a help desk ticket. If this happens, allow them to post what they made in the gallery. I'm sure all the other participants would like to see what they made.

Good luck, and I hope your missing people return soon!

I just sent out (and my partner just received today) for my first swap.  Except for one weekend when I was out of town (which I let her know about) I don't think we've gone barely a day without emailing each other.  Maybe I just got lucky with my partner?  Is that unusual?  I hope not because I really enjoyed the social chatting aspect to the swap.  Smiley

Every swap is different, but lots of people really communicate and make good friends. I'm glad your first swap was so much fun!
