wouldnt the hot drink keep your hands warm already?
no

BAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AAAAA

good call. I thought that seemed a little rude, and I love your response...

on to my question:
Does the yarn hit your mouth when you sip? I don't know if I could handle that...

1. Grin I thought so too

2. Yeah a little on the regular mug it does (not on the travel mug) but you could just omit 2 or 3 sts on the outside edges to make it shorter. Like instead of CO 26 you could CO 20 and just K2 on each edge where it says K5.  Hope that helps.  If that doesn't make sense let me know and I can try to explain it better.  Smiley

ETA: Oh yeah and don't forget if you only CO 20 sts you will only dec 2 sts on each side instead of 5 sts on each side.

maybe just do some sort of short rows to give it a lip?

Of just BO a little early and do a SC edge, with a dip for a mouth area.

I'm still trying to figure out how to make it work on disposable cups...

Hmm...good thought. I will have to play with the pattern and see what I can come up with.  This is such a simple pattern that you could alter it in a lot of different ways to make it suit you.

That looks awesome, and awesomely functional!  What a great invention.  I also like the extra wrap around bit so you don't burn your fingers on hot mug side.

For no particular reason (other than the joy of rhyming), I think you should market these as 'Mug Hugs'.

Great job!
