So I just finished the 12 point ripple afghan for the 2 year old that I Nanny for, and would like to make an afghan for her 9 month old sister as well .. I already have the yarn for it but I need to find a pattern .. so please suggest your favorite afghan pattern.  I'm fairly intimidated by any afghans that start with ch (insert insane number here) and would prefer to work in rounds like the ripple afghan or a granny square afghan .. I have considered the little star afghan but it doesn't really go with the theme of her nursery which is very girlie .. think flowers and dresses and pink and such Tongue

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Will swap anything crocheted for a Poppet!

How about stitching a bunch of squares together?

If you're intimidated by doing a straight row afghan, you could do squares or strips/panels. Or, do a rectangular granny.... those go fast, it's mindless TV type crocheting or a regular huge granny if piecing squares together isn't your thing.

My favorite afghan pattern... it's between a V stitch (straight row type) and a square pattern that I saw in the 63 Squares Sampler booklet by Leisure Arts. If you go to

there's a lot of patterns for squares. I think there's even a few that you do diagonally (from corner to corner so there's no huge starting chain...).

Okay, that's the diagonal one in the link above...

I hope that helped *hugs*

take a look at this album: http://www.flickr.com/groups/crochet_afghans/pool/
there are great afghans of all sorts there. if you don't want to make any that start with long chains, you can make granny squares, hexagons, or a babette blanket, and it all will depend just on the colours you choose to fit into the nursery.
