pattern for child hat in bulky yarn?

I was given a skein of bulky yellow yarn that my 3 year old loves. She wants a hat but i don't know where to start ( i have never made a hat before). Any help would be greatly appreciated

Find out how many sts/inch on size 10.5/11 needles you get. Measure her head to find out how big. Multiply the sts/inch times inches around and take about 90% of that number for your CO. You can do it all in ribbing, or just ribbing on the cuff, then switch to stockinette.
