This is how I spent my afternoon. He's completely needle felted. He has an undyed wool roving core, covered by a thinner layer of coloured roving. Then I attached individual strands of Caron Bliss yarn with the felting needle. I only had pink pipecleaners on hand, so I wrapped them in yarn to make the antennae, and put some beads on the ends.

"Yip yip yip yip, uh-huh, uh-huh."

"Brrrrrriing!"  (Remember that "encounter"? Grin

An afternoon well wasted.  Wink

ETA:
He now has a book and an "arm" to hold it up:

I think you're channeling Jim Hensen!  That is so awesome!  All their noises would be a great ring tone.  At least for the first 6-7 rings.

I love it! Those things used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid though. I was always afraid they'd come through my wall like they did on tv!

Totally and completely love him!!!  Really, he does look just like the ones on Sesame Street.  That is so awesome, I haven't seen more rewarding time wastage in a while (well, besides endless crafster-surfing, which is always hugely rewarding.)  I should totally show this to my friend, she always thought the yip-yips were creepy, but I just love their yarn-moppiness!

this is the best thing EVER!!!  not only did you do a beautiful needle felting job, you recreated one of my FAVORITE sesame street characters (and believe it or not, a lot of people have no idea what i'm talking about when i mention them... sigh)
