I've always wondered how and why knitting got so much for popular than crochet. I'm they both can make the same things basically and there's only miner differences. But if you ask someone which would they like to learn you probably would hear knitting. Maybe because people are more familiar with it. I learn crochet since that's what my grandmother taught me. For those who crochet and knit, may I ask which one do you like better?

Here on page 6 it shows some differences

i like both and can't choose one of the other. i like crocheting because it goes so fast. it also just depends on the project. i'd much rather knit mittens but would rather crochet a hat.

i also like to combine both in projects. makes it more fun.
