i made these for a swap. i bought a pack of mother of pearl buttons and seen some of these earrings in a wist and thought i could do it. i used my trusty drill and a 1/8 drill bit. i beaded a cracked glass bead in the middle and put jump rings to hook the buttons together.

these are hot pink in color with a turquoise blue bead in the middle

these are dark purple with the turquoise beads and a crystal bead in the top button

here is a better pic of the purple ones

thanx for looking.
i hope you enjoyed.

How pretty!  I'm a sucker for the shiny stuff

If it had grown up, it would have made a dreadfully ugly child; but it makes rather a handsome pig, I think.

Those are lovely!  Did you have to put the hole in the tops of the buttons so you could connect them?  I want to get into doing jewelry, so forgive me if this is a dumb question!

no! not a dumb question. yes i had to put a hole on the top and the bottom of the button to connect them. just remember when you drill the holes don't put a hole in the last one unless you plan on putting a dangle or something on the bottom of it.
they are easy to make. hope yours come out good when you try them. these are the first ones i tried to do, and you can't tell it by looking at them. oh yeah if your using a button that is fragile don't press down too hard or you will break the button. if you look good you can See where a little bit of pink come off when i drilled the hole all the way through.
cant wait to see your finished project.
thanx for the question.

Very pretty and unique. Buttons are always a good choice for jewelry components and one of my all time favorites. Whomever invented the button probably never thought how popular the tiny work of art would become. It's such fun to shop thrift shops for cheap clothes just for the buttons.
