I've got some burnt out light bulbs, and the pack rat in me doesn't want to just throw them out.
However I'm not really sure what to do with them.
Any clever ideas?

I've seen them painted (to resemble snowmen or santas) and hung as Christmas decorations.

My father says they used to use them when darning socks, although I am personally a bit fuzzy on how to darn a sack....Darn!

I sometimes use a burnt out bulb in a multiple-light fixture to reduce my electric consumption.

perhaps I could paint them and hang them from the ceiling. That might look creepy though. Meh, I really don't know.

i was searching some polymer clay info the other day and came across this german site which uses a light bulb to make a chicken. it's in german, but i think the pictures are self explanatory  Wink

Good thinking. I was going to link to that tute. It's really easy to do also. I'm saving mine up to make a chandelier that lights from the inside instead of each bulb lighting up.

Be careful with the spiral looking energy-saving light bulbs...they contain mercury that you can be exposed to when they break.  That's also the reason why they are not considered great for landfills.  If you have some of these type I'd recommend checking with your local waste management agency for proper disposal.

You could paint it. I've painted a bunch for holidays and such. Here's the only pic I have left of them.....

Of course it's Eeyore, cause I'm just a little Eeyore obsessed. Wink

If you want the details let me know!
