Why can't puffins eat pancakes instead?

I'm definitely making this.... after Christmas.  I'm going to use Lion Boucle either in purple/black or blue/green.
I've lucked out with this pattern- judging from the picture, and the other patterns on the designer's website, she and I have very similar proportions. (And names- I'm a Stephanie, too. Sadly, one without an "f" in my name) Woo hoo! This rarely happens. Good luck everyone! I can't wait to see pictures Smiley

I'm so in..... I just have to find a substitution for the yarn now ..... and I'm not a big fan of boucle.... Would it still look nice with some normal bulky yarn?

I'm buying yarn today . . . I think I am going to use chenille. I'm sure it would be fine with any bulky yarn. You could email the designer if you wanted, she's been very nice and helpful to me. Smiley

I bought yarn! Nix on the chenille, because I discovered brushed baby alpaca . . . SO soft. So I got that for the white and a cotton for the black part. I've started and it is going VERY quickly.

Aw crap, has anyone else started this?

I've done about 10 inches of the collar, and I'm confused.

Does the collar lay (when on) with the ribbing vertical or horizontal? Becuase if it's vertical, my guage must be WAY off.
Normally I would do the thing where you measure your piece and divide by your stitches and get your guage but it's ribbed! I can't remember if ribbing eats stitches or the other way around.
Help?

Wow!  I can't wait to see the finished product.  I adore this sweater but I can't pull it off.  I'll be living vicariously through all of you.

Go knitters, go!!!!

Yeah, I figured it out myself- my guage is WAY off.
If anyone tests up and ends up with 2.5 x 2.5 instead of 4 x 4 in their MC, email me for your revised pattern.

OOoohhh I love this sweater.  Does anyone have any ideas for substitutable yarns?  Perhaps something a bit on the more economic scale?

Oh and my two cents on the issue of what type of body this sweater is made for.  I think just about any size gal can look great in it.  (Notice all the different sizes for the pattern?)  I think the colors and yarns you use are the most important factor as to whether this sweater will be flattering on a particular body type.

Good luck everyone... I can't wait to start!

PEACE

Jessy

Here's a link to the designer's substitution suggestions:

I hear that elann.com lets you search by gauge and are nicely priced.

BTW, I'm almost ready to separate out my sleeves . . . I got a good 3 hours of work in on it in the EMERGENCY ROOM on NEW YEAR'S EVE . . .

Nothing sordid, my husband had a stress-induced back/shoulder freak out.
