Yarn + Hole Puncher + Uno cards = Crochet Uno dress!!
«

I'm very proud of this one. After seeing the theme of this challenge announced, the gears in my head started turning. A trip to the thrift store lead to a 1981 Uno set, and this dress was born.
And, it's even reversible!!!!
I also made a matching purse to go with it.
I started with this:
And after decoupage and some paint (my first time decoupage-ing!) I had this:
I especially like the part about ordering Uno t-shirts, hats, and belt buckles!
I'll try to explain how I made the dress, although I did not write up a pattern. The yarn is Caron Simply Soft (which I really don't like, but, it was cheap) and the hook size was H.
First, I hole punched the Uno cards (invest in a good hole puncher for this, or your hands will hurt). Then I made half double crochets around the edges, making 3 in each corner, then joining and making another row of hdc's. (This idea came from this post
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=181257.0
)
Then I made the bodice, which I didn't have a pattern for. However, you could easily use a pattern for any crocheted top, such as the designer wannabe top in Stitch N Bitch, Happy Hooker. I then attached the Uno cards onto the bodice with single crochet. I've seen similar techniques used to attach blanket squares. I've got some photos on here to show what it looks like.
I did two rows of hdc at the bottom. I also made the tulle skirt that I'm wearing underneath it, using a basic circle skirt pattern.
The purse is all decoupage and paint, with handles crocheted on (that yarn is Lion Brand Wool ease, which I also don't like, but it was already in my stash, so I thought I might as well use it)
And that's it! I think this has been one of my most creative projects yet! I plan on wearing it for Halloween
although I will say, the dress is quite warm, so I'm hoping it cools off a bit by then (I'm in Florida, so it's in the 80's right now)
THIS ROCKS
