Here are some pinecones I made this weekend.  I like to decorate with real ones (they're free!), so I thought having some soft ones around might be interesting too.

I can post the pattern if anyone's interested.

Here's the pattern for the larger gray one.  The brown one is done by skipping the extra (sc in each sc around) rows, rnd 7, 9, 11, etc.  Let me know if it doesn't make sense.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a ring, pull closed
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc)
Rnd 3: (sc in next sc, inc in next) around (18 sc)
Rnd 4: (sc in next two sc, inc in next) around (24 sc)
Rnd 5: (sc in next three sc, inc in next) around (30 sc)

Rnd 6a: In the front loops only, (sl and ch 3 in one st, dc in next, sl in next - 3 sts) around, ch 1 (10 "petals" + ch1)
Rnd 6b: In the back loops of rnd 5, (sc in next 8, dec once) around, join, ch 1 (27 sc)
Rnd 7: Sc in each sc around (27 sc)

Rnd 8a: In the front loops only, (sl and ch 3 in one st, dc in next, sl in next - 3 sts) around, ch 1 (9 "petals" + ch1)
Rnd 8b: In the back loops of rnd 7, (sc in next 7, dec once) around, join, ch 1 (24 sc)
Rnd 9: Sc in each sc around (24 sc)

Rnd 10a: In the front loops only, (sl and ch 3 in one st, dc in next, sl in next - 3 sts) around, ch 1 (8 "petals" + ch1)
Rnd 10b: In the back loops of rnd 9, (sc in next 6, dec once) around, join, ch 1 (21 sc)
Rnd 11: Sc in each sc around (21 sc)

Rnd 12a: In the front loops only, (sl and ch 3 in one st, dc in next, sl in next - 3 sts) around, ch 1 (7 "petals" + ch1)
Rnd 12b: In the back loops of rnd 11, (sc in next 5, dec once) around, join, ch 1 (18 sc)
Rnd 13: Sc in each sc around (18 sc)

Rnd 14a: In the front loops only, (sl and ch 3 in one st, dc in next, sl in next - 3 sts) around, ch 1 (6 "petals" + ch1)
Rnd 14b: In the back loops of rnd 13, (sc in next 4, dec once) around, join, ch 1 (15 sc)
Rnd 15: Sc in each sc around (15 sc)

Rnd 16a: In the front loops only, (sl and ch 3 in one st, dc in next, sl in next - 3 sts) around, ch 1 (5 "petals" + ch1)
Rnd 16b: In the back loops of rnd 15, (sc in next 3, dec once) around, join, ch 1 (12 sc)
Rnd 17: Sc in each sc around (12 sc)

Rnd 18a: In the front loops only, (sl and ch 3 in one st, dc in next, sl in next - 3 sts) around, ch 1 (4 "petals" + ch1)
Rnd 18b: In the back loops of rnd 17, (sc in next 2, dec once) around, join, ch 1 (9 sc)
Rnd 19: Sc in each sc around (9 sc)

Rnd 20: In the front loops only, (sl and ch 3 in one st, dc in next, sl in next - 3 sts) around (3 "petals")

Fasten off, stuff and close hole.
