Ok, so I'm terrible with procrastinating.

I need a gift by October 3rd (this Wednesday!!).  I've been trying to come up with something for weeks and I'm just not really getting anywhere. So, please, please, pleeeease help me?

It's my boyfriend's birthday. We've been going out for about six months.
-He's turning 17.
-His favorite color is blue, and his favorite flowers are roses, and he likes dragons.
-He's a total anime nerd. Pretty much loves anything Japanese and is trying to teach himself to speak Japanese.
-Loves music. Pretty much any kind of music.
-Plays DDR a lot.
-Takes a karate class.
-Plays guitar.
-Loves videogames, especially HALO 3.
-Really likes drawing.

Since there really haven't been any holidays in the 6 months we've been dating, I haven't made him a whole lot of presents. I've made him a hacky sack (which he seemed to like), a little crocheted dragon (didn't seem to like so much), and little letter magnets so he can write little notes to people if he wants (he seems amused by those).

He knows that I'm really into crafty stuff and totally supports me in whatever stuff I do, so I'm not too concerned about whether or not me making something will weird him out. And he's definitely ok with being mushy, as long as it's not completely out there for everyone to see (he's really shy, but he's gotten less so about mushy stuff since dating me)

He calls me his sunshine and I call him my Jer-bear. (My name is Dawn, so the sunshine thing kind of fits and his name is Jeremiah so Jer-bear is kind of sort of a shortened version of it.

The one thing I can think of to get him is a lizard, but I'm not really sure I've got the money because I'm pretty sure buying the tank and stuff for a lizard can get pretty expensive.

Oh, and I've got a budget of about $15-$20 right now, but I might be able to borrow a few bucks if I need to.

Any suggestions? Please oh please oh please, I'll love you forever.

I'd say something fairly functional. Guys tend to be less into cute stuff that sits around... Possibly why he was less into he dragon. Maybe make him a guitar strap with dragons on it or something?

^^i second that....the hacky was completely functional, the dragon was decorative, he didnt know what to do with it, no matter how awesome it was...

another idea for funtional and crafty (and fast!) would be a video game organizer with dragons on it, painted or polymer clay or something...

or maybe since you crochet, you can fashion a ninja themed beanie (it is getting cold) those only take a few days, and you could make it in the theme of the japanese flag by simply making in base in white, crocheting a seperate red circle, and stitching it on....you could really splurge and buy great yarn, and STILL come in way under budget, but it would be functional, appropriate, and totally themed to his likes!

Ooh, the beanie is a really cute idea. Hell, now I'm tempted to make one for my anime-nerd girlfriend...

I'm not sure how difficult this would be, but my boyfriend has been talking about a master chief helmet or costume on ebay for halo 3... maybe you could make him the helmet for halo 3. Ofcourse, I haven't looked at this, I really don't care that much about halo 3, but I know that the nerdy guys over at my apartment playing halo really thought it was cool.

of course, if he's semi-normal, you could make him a messenger bag or something... what are your skills? can you sew?

If you can just find cool records, i'm really into making record bowls right now and you could coat it in resin so that the bottom doesn't have a hole in it- great cereal bowl.

or a t-shirt comfortor...

or you can make something related to old school nintendo, i saw a nintendo pillow around craftster awhile back that was really cool.

oh, and if you live somewhere where its cold, i saw this today (http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/09/scoodie.html). it's a scarf with a hood attached with pockets in the end. ingenious. I'm making tons of these for xmas.

or you can stencil on shirts, come up with a cute saying or maybe an inside joke

But that's all my ideas for right now. I'll probably think of more later.

So I told my bf about this, and he demanding I look at the helmet, and it doesn't look too horribly impossible. probably not a birthday gift though... more like xmas. but I think you'd be the coolest gf around.

heres a link i found to a semi tutorial some guy made.
