My dad is Retired Army and was getting rid of a bunch of his old BDU uniforms a couple years ago. I snagged one of the jackets and whipped up a little pillowcase. It's pretty wonky because this was waay before I really got into sewing. The middle part with the buttons is open- it's where the pillow slips in at.
Anyway, it's a really simple thing but I thought it might give someone an idea Smiley

What a great idea! I have been saving a few button-up shirts for the cool fabric - and now I am gonna whip them up into some pillowcases!!! Thanks Wink

Wow, I think you're my new hero. Now I know what to do with my husband's BDUs when they get too roughed up. I think he'd kill me, though. Nice job! Very creative.

I love it!  I wonder why!  God knows I have about a billion BDU shirts to do that with!

I love my hubby, but the Army doesn't pay enough for my crafty habit!

I've discovered that anything you can refashion from old denim you can do with old BDU's.  If we refashion them into purses, pillow's, baby clothes, home decore and other items. Then we are keeping these items out of the landfil and honoring our soldiers.
