Help with halloween costume?

I want to be a zombie cheerleader for halloween! I can sew, but I think I'd need about a year to sew this (I got kicked out of my sewing class ), so what should I do? I was thinking of going to Value Village and looking for a cheerleader outfit, and then rubbing charcoal on it and splattering fake blood on it? If anyone else has ideas for the costume that'd be awesome!
