I'd love some input on this, too. I have my first fair coming up at the end of this month, and I'm still undecided as to what to do with my scarves.  Huh

I display scarves on a old fashioned free standing wooden towel rail.  You can usually pick them up in second hand shops cheaply.  If you have time on our hands you can also sand and paint them to match your scheme.  Tried this once and have decided just to stick to the original colour as i got paint all over the back step of our house and my other half is still giving out about it.
Anyways the towel rail looks good filled with the same style of scarf in a lot of different colours.
If your stand has walls use butcher hooks (s hooks?) to suspend a brush shaft and hang scarves on that.  This is also good for jumpers  - thread the pole through the sleeves.

does that sound like it will work?

I got this hanger-thingy at IKEA in Singapore...you might be able to find it where you are. It's got like, rings attached to the hanger so you can hang scarves, ties, etc. Gives it a home-y feel. Smiley It's called the Komplement multi-use hanger. Here's a photo from the Ikea site:
