I bought about a pound and a half of different shades of blue clay. I love it so much, but I'm always afraid to use it for fear that I might "waste" it. I certainly don't feel like this project was a waste! It took about 12 hours of painstaking rolling and placing. The canvas it 8x10

Holy Moly, that's bee-yootiful. And, uh, yeah, painstaking rolling. Your fingers must have been killing you! But, wow, the end result is just amazing!

Actually, my right shoulder hurts more than anything! lol I didn't trust myself to do something so tiny with my left hand, so my right shoulder got to do all the work. *roll, lift, place, repeat*

thats is amazing! will it fall off when it hardens or did you coat it with something? did you use self hardening clay or make and bake everything first then attach it? sorry i have so many questions i have never seen anything like this before!!

Best episode of 'Cops' ever made:

don't worry about the questions. lol

It is baked onto the canvas using liquid clay as "glue". I drew my design, coated the areas I was working on with TLS (transulcent liquid sculpey) and added each scroll one at a time. Once the entire canvas was covered I baked it. I have used this technique many times and the clay adheres very well to the canvas. Especially since the liquid clay kind of "melts" the raw clay over time. It took 12 hours to make so the clay had 12 hours of melting time to get good and deep into the canvas. Now that it is baked, the liquid clay will not continue to make the other clay soft.
