i suppose i could post this in purses but my heart lives in the embroidery forum so i'm posting it here.

i made this bag for my friend becca using amy butler's chelsea bag pattern and the squiggly lines from jenny hart's mod pad.  i used a chain stitch for the whole thing using chocolate brown, chartreuse, chartreuse, chocolate brown, plum, chocolate brown.  the bag is canvas lined in a mottled brown cotton.

inside (with the little tag i made):

Great job! Is this your first bag? How did the square handles go? What kind of interfacing did you use? I've just started making bags and have been using a heavy craft interfacing. I was just wondering how it holds up to wear and washing. Once again great job! You've inspired me and now I know what I'm going ot be doing on Christmas vacation! Happy Holidays!

OOH!  Love it!  and the label too!!   Shocked   Just started sewing, and have completed 2 Amy Butlers---a runway bag and the new swing bag.  Just bought these chelsea bag patterns too---looks a bit complicated for the handles--was it?  Any tips to share?

I just got some Sublime Stitching patterns too to embellish with--love the mod Eames look--have been using mod fabrics and amy butler fabric so I haven't really embellished yet.  I will try and post pics of my bags when I get home--the runway bag in mod fabric from reprodepot looks like a cousin to this bag.
