My good friend (who frequents the knitting/crochet board of this site, hee heee..) deserves a present. My mother in law is teaching me to make my own hexagon quilt using the English paper piecing method, and we came up with the idea to make my friend a pillow out of one of them.

This is what we came up with! The sides of the pillow look wonkier than they actually are...  Cheesy
(it was also my very first attempt at appliqu!)

I tried to take a picture of the quilting detail, but forgot to turn on the macro function, so I failed and it turned out blurry. Oh well! What do you think?

great job. How big is it? like lap size? and was the pattern hard to do? I'm a newbie to quilts and I like the look you have and I thought about doing something like this as a wall hanging.

Yeah, lap size sounds about right! It's not hard to do at all! English paper piecing is the easiest, most brainless thing ever!

I don't quite know the best way to explain it, because I was shown in person, but I'm sure your library would have a book about it! It's totally foolproof, and you get perfect hexagons (or whatever other shape you're working with) every time!

I attempted a form of English paper piecing but I didn't get very far.
You did a really good job!
You have inspired me to dig out my unfinished project.  Smiley
The quilting was great too!

Hey - I'm English - are you saying I'm brainless?!  Grin
(But I know what you mean about it being easy to do - it's just cutting out all of those hexagonal shapes before hand that kills the sewing hand in advance).

With blessings.
