What kinds of crafts do you find yourself drawn to this time of year?

Hopefully your ideas will help inspire me out of this rut I have been in  Embarrassed

I would love to formulate a little buddy system too, if anyone would be interested. Pen Pal. I am a bit lonely and without any friends nearby, other than my lovely boyfriend... who... just ins't really a "crafter" haha  Tongue

I have been trying to get motivated to decorate our large front window with winter themed items... think: palm tree (I live in San Diego, CA), coconuts, snowflakes, fake snow and metallic garland Cheesy Not to mention, we will be adding in multicolored Christmas Lights.

Anyway, please - share what your creative minds have been thinking up or getting into lately. I would LOVE to hear about you Smiley

Oh cool! I haven't done any cross stitch for quite some time.

Kittykill- Do you make your own designs or follow one?

I have been wanting to make my own but haven't taken the plunge yet. I usually follow patterns or a kit.

I had planned on decorating for Christmas this weekend and getting my tree next week. We do a couple of trees around the house. We have a hearty palm in the backyard that I keep threatening to decorate.  Cheesy

I usually try something different each year - this year I have done some paper dimensional stars, altered altoid tins, and am making some wood burned ornaments.  I just finished making a bunch of Christmas crackers for a party we were at.  I will also be making some coffee filter poinsettias for MIL, and some hanging towels for various relatives too.

As weird as this may seem, my family (both mine and my husband's) love my crocheted dish clothes. I can make one or two in an evening with the right movie inspiration. I make a couple, put them in a box for later use and pick up something else to do for a week or so. Smiley

I've decided that I want to make crocheted snowflakes this year, one a week. I've the thread, patterns and hooks. I just need to remember to make them. My goal is to split the set of ornaments that my gran made for me when I was younger for my two kidlets when they're old enough to have their own trees. I want to add some of my snowflakes to the batch to make at least a couple of dozen for each.

Hi, TroubleT!  I've missed you!  Hope all is well with you and your family.

I recently was given two cases of bottled water.  I wouldn't buy it myself, b/c of what the plastic does to the environment.  But since I was given to me, I am recycling the bottles by drinking the water, then cutting off the top quarter of the bottle.  I then use a hole punch to punch holes around the perimeter and crochet about a two inches up onto it, and create a drawstring closure.

Somebody else on Craftster posted this idea before Xmas and I ran with it...it was posted just in time!  I have so much tiny skeins of yarn to use up and a ton of empty bottles!  Roll Eyes  I thought they would be cute to fill with candy or other little goodies to include with swap packages or use for holidays, like Valentine's Day.

There is an ongoing artist trading card swap. You can get mail all the time that way. Many of the themes are flexible so you can make cards out of fabric, nature, collage, paint, draw, etc.
