Blue, brown, and brown purse!

I finally finished the purse I've been working on for my friend's Christmas gift. (We're planning to make all of our gifts this year, so I started working on gifts almost 2 months ago.)

I loved the colors of this yarn, but hated working with it. It was TLC Essentials Surf N Turf yarn. I've learned from this project that I hate the feel of (100%) acrylic yarn and if a yarn separates (like this one did) I will want to throw it up against the wall and leave it there to stay. Little strands kept getting caught on my hook and really slowed me down. I still have one skein left, but I really don't know if I'll be able to make myself work with it again.

Nevertheless, I'm happy with how it turned out and I'm so glad it's done!

Well, I started with a pattern, but about two rows in I decided that I wasn't going to be happy if I tried to go by the pattern, so I put it away and just pretty much came up with it myself. Really, it was simple and would've probably went quickly if the yarn hadn't been such a butt.

I love it! I love the colors and the shape, the size, the whole thing.
I also think it's so cool you're exchanging hand-made gifts! That's the best.

I also hate the way acrylic yarn splits.  However, I'm a broke college student, so unless it's something really special, that's all I can afford.

I love the colors, though.  It reminds me of when the "colored camo" phase hit my middle school so long ago.  I was totally into blue camo.

I bought that same yarn when I was learning to crochet (in the same colors too!) and I will agree that it kind of sucks for crocheting.
