Vegan Alligator!

A few days ago the son of a friend of mine asked me for a fuzzy scarf. I wanted to give him something a bit more masculine and came up with this:

He's here. My guy is a bit different (a bit simpler), but it's the same idea. I'm going to post the exact modifications I made in my journal once I figure out what exactly it was I did.

I love that vegan fox, but the pattern is not really vegan (uses wool)... anyone have an idea for a good substitute?

WOW.
I'm making a silver vegan fox (with wool, more of a conscientious fox) for a niece, and now I realize that both of my sons will need alligators...
