I've started my little hats for the Innocent Smoothie "Big Knit" for Age Concern (a charity that helps the elderly) and as I just started knitting at the start of the week (literally picked up a set of 5mm's on Monday) I well proud of how the first two came out. I'm using them as a practice in decreasing and stitch type's as well, so there not just for Nana's.

I managed to change colour, purl and decrease, so I'm chuffed.

P.S. Any feedback welcome, I'm very new to knitting so if you see something you think I'm doing wrong please tell me. (I have no Nana near by to teach me these important life skills, she lives in Australia...... Cry)

Good job! Those are so cute, and neatly done, especially for a beginner. I started knitting last summer and still haven't found the courage to do anything circular... though I am currently contemplating it Smiley

They are so cute.  Now, all you need to do is make some in Christmas colors and you've got some great 'hand knitted' ornaments to give to people.  Tie them onto your presents and you don't need a bow- since, the hats will be so cute!

I've got a brand new blog:  *I'm one with the masses now!

*Life and adventues of an American living overseas who finds time to knit every now and then.
I'll do it now in a minute.

They're both fantastic.  It's a great cause too, I would encourage all UK knitters to spend a few minutes making some of these. Well done  Smiley

Yay I've made another three......

If anyone else is making these I'd love to see them, there such fun. Its a simple pattern, on 3 3/4mm needles cast on 28, then knit one row purl one row, for 12 rows. Then decrease the next row, so it comes down to 14 stitches. Do the same on the next row, so it ends up 7 stitches. Cast off and sew up the seam. Go crazy with the colours and decorations, check it fits.

Smile cos your helping the Nana's and the Papa's......  Grin
