I made this as a modern take on the traditional baby layette.

Because the friend who it is for does not know what sex of baby she is having I decided to make it all in white (lets face it babies can never have too many white cardigans!)

The hat is not from any fixed pattern - I sort of made it up myself as I went along, the Cardigan/kimono is Clementine's Baby Kimono and the booties are Christine's Stay on baby booties .  The whole thing was knitted using just over 1 ball of Bernat baby softee...

And because I have some of the yarn leftover I am using it up making a blanket knit on the diagonal.......

I love that cardigan.  Now someone I know needs to have a baby so I can knit one myself.  The layette turned out great!
