I wasn't sure if this belonged here or in the Toys, Dolls and Playthings area since it's something to play with but it's also wearable. Feel free to move it if need be.

My daughter's favorite thing to play with is her play kitchen set. She loves making meals on her little stove with her felt food. So for her 4th birthday (which is on Friday! ack! how did she get so old?) I made her some accessories fit for only the finest pretend chef.

The apron is reversible and has a big pocket on each side. Here's the other side:

Closeup of the oven mitts--the one on the bottom shows the back side of the mitts, which is the same linen used in the apron.

And it was tough to show the shape of the hat with it lying flat, so I had her shark, Donce, model it for you all. He's a little shy so be nice.

The oven mitts were based on this super easy tutorial: http://thelongestyear.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/03/oven_mitt_tutor.html

As for the hat and apron, I just sort of winged it. No pattern, just a lot of lucky guesses. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be, and I was able to finish the set over the course of an afternoon.

Edited to add:
Well, her birthday was yesterday and she LOVED it! Last night was kind of chaotic with all the excitement so I couldn't get a good modeling picture until this morning. It fits her really well and she's actually wearing it right now and cooking up a pretend breakfast.

super cute!
my wee girl is only 13 weeks old but i know i'll be saying "when did she get so old?!" in no time. who knows if she'll turn out to be an aspiring fake chef but i'll have to make a set of these just in case!

any chance you'd share some pictures of the felt food? i've been making some felt fruit lately and i'd love some more inspiration!
