Help! Have you ever seen this slipper pattern?

I recently learned that my father's mother crocheted, and that she made these slippers that she called doo-doos.  I have a vague recollection of my daddy wearing some made in the style of high-top Converse All-Stars.  My mom says, "It only took her like an hour to make a pair!  As soon as they got a hole in them you'd say, 'Memere, I need some new doo-doos' and she'd whip 'em right up!"  Finally, I know where I get the craftster gene from!
Anyway, I am googling my heart our for this pattern, and I come across a supposed crochet pattern for "Cottage Slipper Socks" on the Lion Brand site.  Upon closer inspection, the socks in the photo are VERY knitted.  It's pretty obvious. Has anyone ever made these socks (the directions are for crochet, at least!), and did they look anything like the KNITTED ones in the photo?  And who should I complain to at Lion Brand?
My real question though, is about the "doo-doos."  I've seen the pattern for baby booties but there has to be a commercial pattern for adults somewhere- my grandmother was just not the type to sit around and think up crochet patterns on her own.  Has anybody seen CROCHETED Converse All-Stars for adults?  I would REALLY love to make some for Daddy for Christmas.  I'm sure I could create some on my own but I would like to see if I can find the original pattern Memere might have used first.

i am a knitter and ive been looking for this type of pattern...i went on the web site and there are teo versions...the knit one and crochet one....sometimes they shoe  a picture of one or the other ...but the pattern is correct...they just show you the knitted one in the pic....hope that helps....

I used to have some leaflets from Annie's Attic that were for adult slippers.  There was high tops, cowboy boots, red sandals, and mary janes with bobby socks.  So cute.  Maybe you could find them on ebay?  They were around in the late 80's, I think.

Eh, sort of...  I remember these being distinctly All-Stars.  I might be able to work with that pattern, though, thanks!
