Hey-
I'm having trouble locating some instructions in a knitting book I have about how to 'embroider' on a knit item. I don't really know how to explain it. It looks like embroidery but i think you crochet it on top of your knitted piece. If anyone knows what I'm talking about or can better explain this, your more than welcome to!
ps. it looks like this.

Thanks
Tina

Usually when someone is referring to embroidery it's with a needle,  Embellishments can be done with a crochet hook also. Smiley

Hey Tina - on the example pic it looks like the white patterns are crocheted with the blue (and the white lettering) stitched on afterwards.

I know someone on here has already covered this but I can't find the post  Sad

But I did find this http://bellaknitting.typepad.com/bella_knitting/2007/08/crocheted-embel.html

Which gives you the crochet basics. Hope that helps!

in that example pic, I have to say, down below on the pattern for that item it says this:

" For LOVE KNIT,  Julie used chain stitch. She also backstitched inside the chain for added interest. French knots accent the heart design and the letters were backstitched."
So, it's really just chain stitch. sorry I'm no help but I had to clear that up as I'm working on that pattern right now myself Smiley
