So my ever-so-spoiled mum asked me to make her a couple of necklaces similar to the tropical-sea set I mahe for my self (see here)

Using the seahells she collected on her holiday in Orkney (an island to the north of Scotland) and some semi-preciouse stones she bought I made her these:

Orkney shores 1

Orkney shores 1 close-up

Orkney Shores 2

Orkney Shores 2 close-up

Orkney shores 2 clasp

I'm glad to say she loves them both and I am currenly working on a third, slighhtly different piece for her.

These are so beautiful!!

Orkney is one of my favourite places... these necklaces really capture everything about the place.

Your mom is very lucky - and you should be very proud!

Wow, these are so amazing!  I'm currently working on my first ever freeform piece, what stitch(es) have you used for these necklaces? I love how you've used such big shells to contrast with the tiny seed beads.  You are very talented, and your Mum is very lucky!

those are positively beautiful! i especially love the clasp on the second necklace...i love those types of clasps and how creative of you to think of doing that with a shell!

did you carve the centers out of all of shells, or were they already like that?

Wow, those are both incredible!  So artistic, but without losing their wearability.  Amazing job!
