I made this for a friend's birthday.  She grew up Catholic, and still collects Catholic iconography in its varied forms.  Now she has a Sacred Heart of her very own!

It's made of squeaky acrylic from my stash, with some metallic-y cotton stuff (Knit Cro-Sheen, maybe?) for the flames, regular and metallic embroidery floss for the thorns, and Czech fire-polish faceted beads for the droplets of blood.

Of course I forgot to take pics of the cream velvet lining and the little red zipper, and to include any sort of size reference.  It's about 5 1/2" at it's widest point, just big enough to hold  tiny cell phone and a few dollars, maybe a lipstick, too.  I kind of wish I'd kept it!

What do you think?  Other than the fact that I take lousy pictures... Roll Eyes

Very creative.  I would SO carry a purse like that. Love it.

It's not that I don't want to swap, it's that I often don't have time.  But feel free to ask (especially if it's one that's not too time consuming).

Holy crap! That is AWESOME!  Shocked I collect catholic iconography too. I would SO make and use a purse like that. Would you be willing to share a pattern/tute with us?

Wow!  Thanks everyone!

Let me think about how I did it for a day or two and I'll see if I can't give some (very basic!) instructions.
