Ok so they're made w/expensive yarn but jeez that's a ridiculous price. The stitch isn't one Ive tried but I think others have said its a herringbone type. Not that hard to do especially at that size. I've got too many things on the needles and hook right now but maybe next month I'll give it a try

Huh Holy hell, I can get nice wool and buttons like that down my local Patsy and she'd help me work out the stitch, that would end up costing about 10 pound all up. Wow

well they look easy enough to make - just a shortish scarf or rectangle with buttonholes at one end and the buttons along the side - I can't see how they justify the price though  Shocked  you could knit those from one ball of yarn - either the yarn is incredibly expensive or the buttons are  to justify that price or someone is making one heck of a profit on those if they sell any! (they wouldn't take very long to knit either - I would probably be able to make one in an evening of TV watching and wine drinking!)

I'm with you on the price, but I'm guessing they're for non-knitters who want the "exclusive" and "luxury" feel. After seeing the prices on cashmere yarn, the JCrew sweaters seem cheap! (But then again, they're not hand knit). Smiley

I've seen this too and I'd like to make one just for the hell of it. Smiley I was thinking the stitch pattern is similar to the one in my so called scarf at http://www.sheepinthecity.prettyposies.com/archives/000079.html

to me it almost looks like twisted stocking stitch (knitting into the back of each stitch and purling normally). that price is obscene though! i refuse to believe that a scarf (and a really short one to boot) can be worth that much! not even if Elizabeth Zimmermann herself rose from the grave and knitted it with fibre from the last cashmere goat on earth could it be worth that much (end rant  Wink)
