Crafting since birth,...!

NOTE:  All images are clickable for larger sizes!

This is a proud testament to my ability to sew with a 3yo who decided that he was qualified to "help Mama".  Please note the sarcasm.  Let's just say that he won't be my apprentice any time soon.  I had to do the elastic casing twice, because I accidentally tacked it down,... in the wrong direction.  I blame,...

my "apprentice" who wouldn't leave me alone for two seconds! In his favor, he has a mohawk, he is cute, and he knows when it is a good time to tell me he loves me!

But, I did finish, after an unfortunate hour wasted on threading elastic because I was so distracted that I had a duh moment(s) and didn't think of the old safety pin trick.  Again, I blame it on the above creature.  But here it is, in it's glory!

Me, at 6:45am this morning BEFORE a gallon of coffee!

The extra length I added gives proper coverage to a gargantuan sized butt.  Again, I blame the creature,... and his three brothers,... and Oreos.  On the plus side (not the butt!), my hair looks really cute today, although you can't tell in the pics!

Before I knew what he was doing, my photographer (also my 15yo son, a little disturbing) zoomed in for a close up of the button detail.  He is used to the kinds of things I take close-ups of, but I wasn't really going for boob shots.

Pattern:  Built by Wendy Simplicity 4111
Fabric:  medium weight jersey knit
Buttons:  stolen from my hubby's BDUs
Modifications:
  1.  Lengthened 6" or so
  2.  Instead of gathered sleeve caps, I made two tiny pleats on each.
  3.  Didn't elasticize the sleeve cuffs

I love it!  I also appreciate sewing with "helpers".  I think this is why I sew at 2am!

Thank you, all!  I just like the fact that it "camouflages" my big butt!   Grin  Okay,okay,... cheesy, I know.  But I spend my day with The Creature so my humor suffers!

Love the pink camo.  The colors suit you.  Cute detailing on your tunic - the neckline, buttons, empire waist...

I am built similarly to you - so I will look into this pattern as well.  And don't worry about your butt, us larger breasted ladies know how to vamp it up so no one even looks back there.

 Grin

smart not to elasticize the sleeves because the bells make that tunic!! That and the bodice - your son obviously knew that!!
